The papers of Blanche Williams Smith document her life as a resident and elementary educator of Maryland’s Eastern Shore from 1880-2015 with the bulk of the material dating from her years as a student at Frankford High School and the Women’s College at the University of Delaware, 1922-1931. Scrapbooks, created by her daughter Louise, document her family’s history dating back to the 1770s; other materials include yearbooks, journals and ephemera all-encompassing Blanche’s life Delaware and Maryland.

The John D. Williams papers contain the financial records of the Salisbury, Maryland resident and owner of L.E. WIlliams Company from 1867 to 1920. Included are two savings account booklets from the 1900s to 1920, financial notes and estate documents from the 1890s, a financial ledger also used for the minutes of the Salisbury Coronet Band from the 1870s, and two high school graduation speeches from 1899 and 1901.

The Robert E. Perdue Family papers document the ancestors of Robert E. Perdue Jr. His branch of the family lived in the lower Delmarva region, with a majority living in Pittsville, Wicomico County, Maryland. As time progressed the Perdue’s married into other families such as the Jones, Williams, Dennis, and Taylors. The Pittsville Perdue’s played an important part in building the St. John Friendship Methodist church. Research materials include land records, genealogy conducted by Robert E Perdue in the pursuit of his family history. Research was conducted from 2004-2011, with the bulk being completed in 2009-2010. Perdue’s research spans from the 17th century to the 20th century.

Senator John J. Williams scrapbooks

The Senator John J. Williams papers document his distinguished service as a United States Senator and his family history from Sussex County, Delaware1880-2011. Documenting materials include five scrapbooks that were compiled by Williams’ niece and former Salisbury City Council President Louise Smith document the extensive Williams family including the Senator’s parents and ten siblings through photographs, correspondence, and news clippings. In addition to the scrapbooks, national publications and audio-visual materials also contribute to the Senator’s political career and community involvement.
